The GenericCadd.com Discussion Forum has been remodeled:  I hope you will find it faster and easier to use.  The old messages have been cut, pasted and reposted into a new format(that's why it took so long to finish).  Since the old messages had to be reposted, the date on the message is  the time it was reposted.  With the exception of the last 75 messages, which were posted in the order that the were recieved,   the older messages were entered by subject and the date has no relation to when they were posted.

The structure of the Forum has changed to make it easier to find specific items of interest.  The Forum is divided into Conversation Topics and Subjects.  The Coversation Topics are assigned by the Forum Administrator.  If you have a suggestion as to a new topic please email the Forum Adminstrator at webmaster@cirs.com .   We have done this to keep a more orderly forum. You can of course add subjects to the assigned topics as you see fit.

How does it work?

Basically, everything in the forum is accomplished by replying to a message.    To respond to any mesasage just click on the message and press the reply icon in the upper left hand corner of the page, compose your entry(please make the subject conform to the message you are replying to) and press the post icon in the upper left hand corner to post the message.  If you would like to start a new subject in a Conversation Topic, just click on the first message in the Conversation Topic group(this message has the same title as the Conversation Topic and was posted by the Forum Administrator) click the reply icon and enter your new subject heading in the subject box.   This will create a new subject in that topic. Once you have posted a message you can click on the "Refresh Message" button on the title bar and your entry will be visible.  There is one caution however.  When you refresh messages the Converstion Topic you posted to becomes the one with the latest entry and is therefore placed on page one of the forum.  Please note that some Conversation Topics are broken down into topics underwhich you can add subjects. For example Operating systems is broken down into Win95, WinNT etc..

How do you find things?

With this software we have the ability to create different views of the forum.   When you click on the Discussion Forum button on the top of this page, you will see the default view("Discussion") which shows the forum organized by Conversation Topic(seen in blue) and the Subjects and messages below.  The first topic you see will be the one containing the lastest message that has been posted in the forum.  On the title bar you will see a "sort by" box.  This will allow you to sort the messages in several ways.   The most useful will be the "Latest Messages" sort.  This will show you the messages in the order posted with the lastest being first and the subject being discussed.  If you want, you can respond to the messages from this view.  The other views such as "by subject" and "by sender" can be useful but since many people use different names(email address, first name only etc.) there are many listings for the same person and the same goes for subjects.
