Don't give up hope! I am working really hard (to the point where my own business has sufferred) to do the job that Numera SHOULD have done. The company we (my team & I) have formed is called TanCADEM and is based in large part on the "Future of Visual CADD" conference that was ongoing for nearly two years on Compu$erve. I kept ALL the messages that were generated there. We have used them extensively in writing the TanCADEM product specifiction.
Allow me to assure you, _I_ am a dimensioning DEMON. _I_ have to create drawings that pass DoD and industrial muster. Thus, I have placed a LOT of effort into building the dimensioning functions we will be using in TanCAD (the CAD product line of TanCADEM) as a well designed system that INTRINSICALLY supports ISO/ANSI Y14.5 as well as the forms traditionally used by designers. In other words, dimensioning that does NOT make excuses for CAD!
YOU can do two things to help us. (A) We need names, addresses, phone numbers (fax and voice), and e-mail addresses from EVERYONE who feels that the way in which Generic CADD worked is a value worth continuing; and (B) we need LETTERS from people explaining WHY the value is worth preserving. (These will be used to convince potential investors that we know whereof we speak. Remember that the people we are talking with barely know what CAD stands for -- much less the details that you or I spend hours worrying about.) The details for this are "filed" under TanCADEM elsewhere in this forum. Please take a look at them.
