TanCADEM -- The freedom of modularity with the power of integrated thought and planning.
Generic Software planned a product line in the days before Autodesk took them over that we feel would have been earthshaking. The proposed name of this product line was Generic ProCADD. I helped alpha test some of the modules intended for ProCADD and was highly impressed. As we built the plan that became TanCADEM, we harken back to the ProCADD concept. Thus, what we are doing with TanCADEM is to return to the development path that Autodesk decided not to follow.
The ProCADD system was to integrate the then current modules of Generic CADD Level 3 and Generic 3DD through a "connection" between 3D models and 2D drawings. 3D and 2D were to be maintained as separate systems with the ability of 3DD models to control Level 3 drawings by the "links" provided by the ProCADD module. This was one of a number of plans active at the time Autodesk took over Generic Software. We feel that this was a great plan.
TanCADEM has taken this concept further. We have decomposed CAD into three modules (I am afraid that I cannot go into too much detail as to our break-down of CAD here) that extend the concept of ProCADD even further. Each module is designed to be a low-cost, stand-along, fully functional product in its own right and, when combined with other modules, provides a level of project design control only found in very expensive and complex CAD systems. We call this product line TanCAD.
We have extended this concept through TanCADEM by creating CAE modules (TanCAE), CAM modules (TanCAM), and information management modules (TanMIS). We have agreements in principle with a company to provide us with Finite Element Analysis structural capability (aimed at the "designer" rather than the "analyst") we will integrate as TanCAE/FEA. We have other design/analysis/simulation modules planned under the TanCAE aegis. We have designed several modules to support Computer Aided Manufacturing to be released under the TanCAM product name. Tying all this together are utilities that aid in project and business management under the TanMIS product name. Thus, TanCADEM is a CAD/CAE/CAM and MIS software company.
This breadth of operation is necessary to build a company that can profitably exist in the long-run while still providing the support Generic CADD users have come to expect. Another "flash in the pan" company will not do any of us any good! We have accounted for these financial realities in the design of TanCADEM both as a company and as a product line set. The "goal" is to recreate the feeling of family that Generic Software so successfully created -- and provide great products that give us the edge we need. This is TanCADEM Corporation.
